Flexible and Versatile Reporting. Impactful Communication of DXA Results with your Patients.

Reporting is one of the most important steps in the entire DXA scan process. An insightful and clearly structured report can help a clinician perform quick diagnosis as well as better communicate the results to the patients.

The Compositor de informes feature contains many default report formats to choose from. The report contains physician-generated assessments and recommendations based on data from the DXA scan and the patient’s demographics, which can assist the physician in communicating scan results to the patient and the patient’s referring physician.
Physicians can also define custom rules to trigger the use of specific report formats based on the type of scan performed. For example, all bone density scan can be configured to use certain types of reports whereas all body composition scans can be configured to use different report formats. Physicians can also choose different reports based on the name of the referring physicians.

Physicians can create their own report formats as well. Our Report Center functionality allows you to customize an existing report or build a completely new report from scratch, adding the logo of your company or specific images of interest.

Atypical Femur Fracture

Quantify, Visualize, and Trend Incipient Atypical Femoral Fractures using DXA Technology from GE Healthcare

The Atypical Femur Fracture application in enCORE version 17 for Lunar iDXA™ DXA system and Prodigy™ with Pro and Advance software packages provides clinicians with the ability to identify and assess early evidence of atypical femur fractures without exposing patients to additional radiation through a CT scan or to the cost and inconvenience of an MRI.1

Atypical femur fracture measurement and analysis provides a dual-energy X-ray image of the entire femur for both qualitative visual assessment and quantitative measure to identify areas of focal thickening along the lateral cortex of the femoral shaft. The AFF measurement also provides bone mineral density (BMD) values.


The software provides a “Beaking Index” value, which is a measure of the magnitude of the increase in the cortical width (mm) at the location of the localized periosteal reaction along the femoral shaft.

Our iAFF application provides various benefits to the Physicians:

  • Quantitative measurement of early “beaks” along the femoral shaft
  • Qualitative visual assessment
  • Graphically trend incipient AFFs over time
  • Proximal and Distal femur acquisition in a single scan - calculate both BMD and AFF, if present
  • Ability to run retrospective scans to uncover early signs of atypical femur fractures among patient population

Our Pediatric application helps you accurately assess and monitor children’s unique growth and development through analysis of height for age, BMC for bone area, bone area for height, lean body mass for height, and BMC for lean body mass. In addition, you can calculate the bone mineral density (BMD) of skeletal sites such as spine and femur. You can also analyze lean- and fat-tissue mass through total body measurement and perform total body less head (TBLH) measurement. Our tools provide you the ability to compare skeletal- and chronological-age measurements and BMD results against gender-specific pediatric reference populations..

The Pediatric measurement and analysis is a purchased option that provides BMD, BMC, fat mass, and lean mass for patients from birth to 20 years old. Pediatric Reference data is available for US, China, Asia and European populations for AP Spine, Femur or Total Body measurements for males and females 5-19 years old depending on the reference population.

Body Composition

Body Composition refers to the percentage of fat, lean and bone mass in the human body.

Body composition assessment tools from GE Healthcare enable Clinicians and Sports Medicine professionals help understand the body composition of their patients or athletes and determine how diet, lifestyle and exercise programs impact overall health and human performance.

Color Coding

The Color Coding feature available in both Lunar iDXA and Prodigy DXA systems enable you to assign different color codes to the lean, fat and bone tissue, allowing you to study the distribution of lean, fat and bone mass throughout the body along with quantification of the amount of each tissue.


Color Mapping

The Color Mapping feature allows clinicians to set and view threshold adjustment on fat percentages throughout the body.

Default tissue mapping colors are red, yellow, and green, where:

  • Green represents an area of low level %Fat
  • Yellow represents an area of medium level %Fat
  • Red represents an area of high level %Fat


Body Composition Trending

The Body Composition Trending feature enables you to view the change in lean, fat tissue and bone mineral density over time through repeated DXA scans of a same patient or athlete.

This is an important tool to view and analyze how the exercise and nutritional programs are making an impact in the body composition of a human body.

Herramienta de gestión práctica (PMT) is a general-purpose business reporting tool offered as part of the enCORE software platform that enables you to tap into your patient database of thousands of patient records and analyze your data to generate insights and reports.

PMT enables you to define a search query and generate a list of patients from your patient database meeting the query criteria.

For instance, you can generate a list of female patients above 65 years of age who had a DXA scan two years back and had a T-score lower than -2.

PMT provides you a set of default mail templates for you to run mail campaigns to reach to your patient list and follow-up for a repeat DXA scan.

The chart option in PMT enables you to summarize and view specific set of patient information based on a wide selection of options such as treatment, country, city, referring physician, lowest BMD score, and many other parameters.

Determine Sarcopenia status using Sarcopenia Calculator from GE Healthcare

Sarcopenia is a disease associated with the aging process. Loss of muscle mass and strength affects balance, gait, and the ability to perform daily living tasks. Sarcopenia most commonly is seen in inactive people but can also affect individuals who remain physically active throughout their lives.

The optional sarcopenia software in enCORE version 17 calculates Sarcopenia risk based on published Sarcopenia definitions and thresholds using measured appendicular lean mass in combination with patient demographics and entered values of muscle strength and physical performance. These values may be useful to health care professionals in their management of sarcopenia.

Clinicians can choose from five working definitions of Sarcopenia or create their own Sarcopenia definition.

Automatic detection of often overlooked vertebral deformities

Dual-energy Vertebral Fracture Assessment (VFA) software helps you detect vertebral fractures, which can be difficult to diagnose. In fact, studies show up to half of all vertebral fractures are not diagnosed.1 Yet it is important to do so.

An existing vertebral fracture increases the risk for subsequent vertebral fractures three to 10 times, regardless of bone mineral density (BMD). Moreover, patients with an existing fracture and low BMD are 25 times more likely to fracture than those with normal BMD and no fracture.2 VFA enables detection of vertebral fractures, which helps you to provide effective care — before more severe complications occur.

The enCORE software platform provides multiple options of reference data for bone and body composition analysis. The reference data are based on healthy, ambulatory subjects from the general population who were free from chronic diseases affecting bone, and not taking bone-altering medications.

After a DXA scan is complete, the measured bone mineral density and body composition can be compared to a reference population at the discretion of the clinician.

Enhance the Prediction of Patient Fracture Risk
Boost the Performance of Bone Densitometry and Add Value to Your Clinical Practice

TBS iNsight™ is new bone structure assessment technique that enhances identification of fracture risk.

TBS iNsight™ software installs on existing DXA scanners. It is a simple, rapid and reproducible method that seamlessly integrates into your workflow and estimates fracture risk based on determination of bone texture. The result is expressed as a Trabecular Bone Score.

Using AP spine data obtained during routine DXA exams, TBS iNsight™ produces a clinically significant1,2 fracture risk parameter. The result derives from a patented algorithm that evaluates pixel gray-level and spatial variations in the DXA scan, providing an indirect, yet highly correlated, index of bone microarchitecture that is independent of bone mineral density (BMD), clinical risk factors and FRAX®.

We also offer ‘FRAX Adjusted for TBS’, which is a FRAX® 10-year probability of fracture based on clinical risk factors, BMD, and TBS™. This feature was built based on a prospective study of more than 30,000 patients and cross-validated using meta-analysis of 17,800 women and men across 14 countries3,4
